New Zealand to host Iran short

Iranian short animation ‘Tangle’ is slated to vie at a film festival in New Zealand.

The animated piece directed by Maliheh Gholamzadeh, will be screened at the 2020 edition of the Show Me Shorts Film Festival.

The festival was added to the list of Oscars-qualifying international film festivals since 2012.

The animation is a war story narrating the separation of people from their homeland due to war and the subsequent crisis.

It depicts some people who lose their homes in wars and are forced to leave all their memories and loved ones behind.

‘Tangle’ recently won three main awards, including the best director award and the award of the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation (ASIFA) at the 11th Iran Independent Animation Celebration and the best title award at the 15th International Sretensky Orthodox Film Festival ‘Vstrecha’ in Russia.

The Show Me Shorts is an Academy Awards-accredited festival that showcases selected films nationwide.

The festival aims to create and cultivate the infrastructure required to achieve the widest possible appreciation of short films in New Zealand, and New Zealand short films internationally.

This year’s edition of the festival is slated for October 2-28, 2020.
