‘Gando’ makes winner at Australian fest

Iranian short documentary film ‘Gando’ has received an award at the 2020 Muslim Film Festival (MFF) in Australia.

The 2nd edition of the Australian Muslim fest bestowed best documentary award to ‘Gando’ made by Teimour Qaderi.

Qaderi’s acclaimed documentary is about a girl named Hawa. Hawa has lost her right hand while going for water. Gando, Iranian short-snouted crocodiles is to blame. But the locals believe that where Gando is, there is water.

Just recently, Qaderi’s 8-minute flick received an Honorary Mention at the 5th edition of International Maritime Film Festival (IMFF) in the US. 

The young filmmaker is the winner of the best film award at the 53rd edition of the Humboldt International Film Festival in the US.

'Gando' will soon go on screen at the 60th Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic, the 7th Exit 6 Film Festival in London as well as the 18th Seize the Film uhvati Film Festival in Serbia, all scheduled for September.

Moreover, the short doc will hit screen at the 3rd Eugene Environmental Film Festival to be held on October 2-4, 2020 in the US.

The MFF introduces Muslim society’s culture and stories by featuring independent films.

The winners’ list was announced on September 5, 2020.
