The Hollywood Reporter critics have released the list of top 20 selected films of the two high ranking festivals, on which Majid Majidi’s acclaimed movie can be seen.
David Rooney, Jordan Mintzer, Deborah Young, Stephen Dalton, Sheri Linden, and Boyd van Hoeij were the ones who reviewed selected films.
‘Sun Children’ received Marcello Mastroianni award for best young actor or actress for Rouhollah Zamani at the 2020 edition of Venice International Film Festival.
Other selected films include '76 Days', 'Ammonite', 'Apples', 'City Hall', 'American Utopia', 'Dear Comrades', 'Honey Cigar', 'Hopper/Welles' and 'Limbo'.
The list goes on with 'Monday', 'My Tender Matador', 'Never Gonna Snow Again', 'Night of the Kings', 'Nomadland', 'One Night in Miami', 'Quo Vadis, Aida', 'Topside', 'Wife of a Spy' and 'Wolfwalkers'.
Majidi’s film is about child labor. ‘Sun Children’ narrates the story of a 12-year-old boy and his three friends, who have been asked by a neighborhood crime boss to find a treasure buried underground.
The film was named the Best Film at the 38th edition of Iran's Fajr Film Festival last February.
Majidi’s film was also one of the winners of the Collateral Awards of the 77th edition of Venice International Film Festival in Italy -- which are independently awarded by associations of film critics, clubs and cultural associations, and cinema professionals, receiving the Lanterna Magica Award.
