Tuyserkan, capital of walnut in photos

Tuyserkan, one of the cities in Iran’s province of Hamedan, is known as the capital of walnut as it has 5,500 hectares of walnut orchards.

The walnut picking season has already begun in Tuyserkan, and is set to continue until November.

This year, 17,000 tons of shelled walnuts are expected to be harvested from the city’s orchards.

The livelihoods of about 60 percent of the city’s population are directly or indirectly dependent on walnuts, also known as “green gold”.

Here are some photos of the process of walnut picking.
