Iran film to take part in US fest

Iranian feature film ‘Bandar Band’ has been set to go on screen at the Mill Valley Film Festival (MVFF) in the US.

Manijeh Hekmat’s movie will be among the titles to be showcased at the World Conema section of the American film event’s 43rd edition.

‘Bandar Band’ is a road movie that depicts flooded landscapes of Iran. The movie is filled with music.

Reza Koulqani, Amir-Hossein Taheri, Mahdieh Mousavi and Pegah Ahangarani, the director’s daughter are some of the cast members of the flick.

The film has already participated in a number of global film events, including the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada and the Zurich Film Festival in Germany.

Launched in 1977, the MVFF is an “eleven-day, internationally acclaimed cinema event presenting a wide variety of new films from around the world in an engaged, community setting”, according to the official website of the fest.

This year’s edition of the event is slated for October 8-18.
