US fest to host Iran film

Iranian movie ‘Diapason’ has entered the competition section of the Heartland Film Festival in the US.

In its latest international appearance, the film, directed and written by Hamed and Hossein Tehrani, will vie at the 29th edition of the American event.

‘Diapason’ has so far won awards from various international film festivals, including Avanca International Film Festival in Portugal.

The 93-minute flick has also won a nomination at the main competition section of the Busan International Film Festival.

‘Diapason’, is about a 50-year-old single working mom named Ra’ana who is living happily with her daughter Hoda until Hoda meets a sudden death in an accident.

‘Diapason’ is a social drama with the starring lead role of ‘Breath’ star Zhale Sameti.

Also included in the cast list of the film are Behnoush Bakhtiyari, Alireza Ostadi, Mehdi Hosseininia, Masoumeh Rahmani, Babak Nouri, Shadi Ganji, Mahsa Akbari, Sara Sarabi and Yekta Tabibi.

Launched in 1992, the Heartland International Film Festival is an event held each October in Indianapolis, Indiana. The festival’s goal is to "inspire filmmakers and audiences through the transformative power of film".

The 29th edition of the event is scheduled for October 8-18, 2020.
