US fest honors Iran’s late Levon Haftvan

The Rock Horror Film Festival in the US has honored the late Iranian actor Levon Haftvan.

The fourth edition of the festival has granted an Honorable Mention to the late Iranian actor for his performance in the short film, ‘Limbo’, directed and produced by Qasideh Golmakani.

In ‘Limbo’, Haftvan plays the role of a former Iraqi sniper who took refuge in Iran and began to tattoo the names of all the soldiers he had killed in the conflicts and wars in Iraq.

During his artistic life, the late actor appeared in a number of works such as Kazem Mollaee’s ‘Kupal’, which gained a plethora of international awards and recognition.

The Iranian-Armenian thespian died on March 10, 2018 at the age of 51 following an incident which occurred on the set of a new cinematic production.

According to the official website of the US fest, “the Rock Horror Film Festival is more than a film screener, it’s an event that unties the best of horror, thriller, and fantasy films with rock & roll in a big party for moviegoers who love music, and cinema”.

This year’s edition of the event was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic on September 17-27.
