Indian Pink City likes Iranian ‘Mermaid’

Iranian short flick ‘Mermaid’ has won an award at the 7th edition of the Pink City International Short Film Festival (PCISFF) in India.

The best actor award of the Indian event went to Mehr-Ali Qazvini for his role in ‘Mermaid’, directed by Saber Mostafapour.

The short film narrates the story of a high school boy, named Milad, who is actually a female inside.

S/he drops out to gain his true identity, but some of his/her villain classmates follow him/her and make it rough for him/her.

In addition to Qazvini, Amir Ahangar, Meisam Vahhabi, Mahla Eslami, Mohammad-Reza Kia, Hamid-Reza Jafari, Ali Solqani, and Tahereh Fard are the cast members of the short flick.

‘Mermaid’ is also scheduled to compete at some global events, including the Tryon International Film Festival in the US and the Bordeaux Shorts: International Festival of 1-Minute Films and Short Films in France.

Moreover, the PCISFF admired ‘Redundancy’ by Keyvan Sarvari with an honorable mention and presented the Best Sound Designing award to Hossein Ghorchian for his work in ‘Echo’ by Barzan Rostami.

According to the official website of the event, the PCISFF aims at “introducing makers of short films all around the world and provide a platform to … showcase” the creativity of new talents.

The 2020 edition of the PCISFF was held online, in the Indian city of Jaipur, in late September.
