‘The Other’, co-directed by Ako Zandkarimi and Saman Hosseinpour, took home the best director award from the 5th edition of the Lyon Young filmfest, which was held on September 18 - October 2, 2020.
The short flick takes us to a world of suspicion and mistrust. It is a complicated story of a man who is left with a daughter from his recently deceased wife. It gets all nasty when he suspects that his daughter might belong to some other man who his wife had an affair with.
The flick was recently screened at the 7th international Festival of Cinema Povero in Italy. In mid-October, it will also appear at the 2020 Berlin Kurdish Film Festival in Germany and the 10th Kaohsiung Film Festival Int’l Short Film Competition (KFF) in Taiwan.
‘The Other’ is already the winner of the Best Cinematography award at the 13th Int’l Film and Music Festival Kustendorf in Serbia and the Best Silent Film award at the 2020 Venice Intercultural Film Festival.
The 14th Grand OFF World Independent Short Film Awards, which is slated for November 23-28, 2020 in Poland, has recently nominated ‘The Other’ for Best Production Design award.
The Lyon Young Film Festival accepts short films less than 25 minutes and made by directors under 28. Every director will be invited to make a speech after screenings.
