‘The 11th Step’ to vie in Slovakia

Iranian animation ‘The 11th Step’ has been selected to compete at the 2020 edition of the Festival Biennial of Animation Bratislava (BAB) in Slovakia.

Making the animation, the director Maryam Kashkoulinia was inspired by a book with the same title written by Sousan Taqdis.

Although the animation targets 7-12 year-old children, the director believes that it has a lesson for the adults too.

‘The 11th Step’ focuses on the themes of freedom and captivity.

The animation indirectly persuades children to try more.

Watching the animation, the child learns s/he can gain marvelous results by taking one more step forward.

This is the animation’s seventh international presence after its screening at global events such as the 16th Korea Independent Animation Film Festival in South Korea, the 2020 Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France, and the 2020 Sedicicorto Film Festival in Italy.

The BAB is a festival of animated films made for children and youth. The festival aims to provide a place for showcasing and evaluating the animations in order to support the complex development of the art.

The 2020 edition of the event is slated for October 5-10.
