Australia to host Persian filmfest

The ninth edition of the Persian International Film Festival in Australia has been scheduled to be held on November 23-26, 2020.

Supervised by Amin Palangi, the event will be held in both online and physical formats.

Palangi says, “The outbreak of coronavirus changed festival’s schedule. But we were determined to hold the festival with an observation of health protocols. The situation made by COVID-19 and our efforts to fight against the virus brought us new opportunities such as online screenings. We hope that more people can reach our films in Australia through online screening. We examined everything and came to this conclusion that November 23 to 26 would be the best time to hold the festival”.

Online watching of the films is only available to the Australian audience.

Inaugurated in 2011, the festival emphasizes the richness of Iranian cinema and Persian-speaking filmmakers around the world.

Persian-speaking films from around the world compete in three categories of Best Feature, Best Short, and Best Documentary.
