US fest hosts Iran film

Iranian movie 'Yalda' is currently being screened at the Washington DC International Film Festival (Filmfest DC) in the US.

The award-winning ‘Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness’, directed bt Masoud Bakhshi, is currently on the screen at the 34th edition of the American festival, being underway from October 2-11, 2020.

The feature, which is a joint production of Iran, Switzerland, Germany, Lebanon and Luxembourg, follows the story of a young Iranian woman sentenced to death and seeking to obtain forgiveness from her accusers via a popular reality TV show.

She has killed her husband and now it is up to his only daughter to forgive her or not.

Behnaz Jafari, Faqiheh Soltani, Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee, Bahram Afshar, Fereshteh Hosseini and Babak Karimi are among the cast members of the flick.

The “Filmfest DC is the largest and longest running film festival in Washington, DC”, according to the event’s official website.

This year’s edition of the fest is being held online over the coronavirus pandemic.
