Chogha Zanbil ziggurat: A rich historical treasure trove

The over 3,000-year-old temple near the ancient city of Susa in the Iranian Province of Khuzestan is one of the best preserved and largest ziggurats (stepped pyramid) in the world.  

Chogha Zanbil ziggurat was the first Iranian site to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.

Major renovation projects of the first and the second floors of UN World Heritage site Chogha Zanbil ziggurat have been completed.
