‘Yalda’ succeeds in French screening

‘Yalda’ has become the second best film at the end of the first week of screening in France.

Written and directed by Masoud Bakhshi, ‘Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness’ has also won the compliments of French critics and magazines.

The film has received four stars out of five, from magazines including L'Obs, Le Monde, Positif, Elle, Minute, Femme Actuelle, Télérama and some other popular magazines.

Winning the acclamation of the media, ‘Yalda’ was named the best film of the first night of screening and second best film at the end of the first week.

The flick, which is distributed by Pyramid company, gained 194 audiences per copy as a successful movie in art and experience.

‘Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness’ has also received the grand prix of Elle magazine in competition with seven other star-studded French films.

The movie, tells the story of Maryam Komijani, a young woman who has been sentenced to death for the murder of her husband.

On Yalda Night, an ancient cultural festive marking the longest night of the year, she has been brought to a studio to be forgiven by the victim’s only daughter, Mona Ziya, during a live TV program.

But several incidents during the program and its behind-the-scenes move the two young women into a challenging situation to make a decision.

‘Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness’ is starring Behnaz Jafari, Faqiheh Soltani, Sadaf Asgari, Babak Karimi, Arman Darvish, Fereshteh Hosseini, and Hassan Joudaki.

The Internationally-celebrated ‘Yalda’ has gone on screen at several festivals, including the Washington DC International Film Festival in the US, the Warsaw International Film Festival in Poland, the Vancouver International Film Festival in Canada, and the Helsinki International Film Festival - Love & Anarchy in Finland.
