idfa to host Iranian doc ‘Shadegan’

The 33rd edition of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (idfa) has selected Iranian documentary ‘Shadegan’ for screening.

Directed by Ako Salemi, the 15-minute documentary narrates the story of a boy who has a small boat and goes fishing to make a living in Shadegan wetland in the Iranian province of Khuzestan.

The documentary participated in the 2020 Visions du Réel Film Festival in Switzerland. On November 6-22, it has also been scheduled to go on screen at the 2020 New Orleans Film Festival in the US.

Every year, the idfa festival showcases the latest works of documentary filmmakers from around the world.

According to festival’s official website, “Given the development of the current health situation globally and in the Netherlands, and following the government and health authorities’ recommendations, IDFA 2020 is led by the mandate to ensure the safety of audiences, filmmakers, and staff.”

The event is slated for November 16- December 6, 2020.
