‘Weekend’ awarded at Italian film event

Iranian short flick ‘Weekend’ has been awarded at the 2020 edition of the Sedicicorto International Film Festival in Italy.

Ario Motevaqqe’s debut short film ‘Weekend’, presented at the short film category of the 17th edition of the Italian event, succeeded to receive the respective category’s award.

‘Weekend’ is about two families who go on picnic in a nearby park. After finishing their meal, it turns out that they are there for something else.

Fardin Qaderi, Mostafa Latifikhah, Sahar Taherkhani, Maliheh Esfandiyari, and Bardia Shariati are on the cast list of the short film.

‘Weekend' was previously screened at the 43rd Kortfilmfestivalen-Norwegian Short Film Festival, the 18th Ischia Film Festival in Italy, and the 6th Tryon International Film Festival in the US.

The short flick has also received the Long-Short film award at the 2020 edition of the KinoDrome International Motion Picture and Screenplay Festival in the US.

In early October, the flick took home the Best Graveyard Shift Short award from the 51st Nashville Film Festival in the US.

Established in 2004, the Sedicicorto International Film Festival aims at offering visibility to young authors and at providing an opportunity of meeting and exchange among film industry professionals.

The 2020 edition of the annual Sedicicorto festival was held on October 2-11.
