Iran opens cultural exhibition in Baku

Iran’s Cultural Office in Baku has held a set of cultural exhibitions on the sidelines of the 4th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Azerbaijan.

Several Iranian pavilions offered different Persian handicrafts from the event held on Saturday at the main square of the city, to familiarize Azerbaijani visitors with Iranian art and cultural products.

Head of the National Bureau of Tourism Promotion of Azerbaijan Fuad Nagiyev and Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Baku Asghar Farsi delivered short speeches during an opening ceremony for the exhibitions.

Nagiyev expressed his hope that the exhibit could help visitors become more familiar with Iran and its art and culture.

Farsi, for his part, noted that the two-day program is aimed at introducing the rich Persian culture and civilization to the Azerbaijani people and the tourists visiting Baku during the games.

The attendees on Saturday warmly received a music group named Shalu from the southern Iranian city and led by Abdollah Maqateli-Motlaq.

In addition to international achievements in sports, a number of banners depicting images of Iran’s historical sites have also been hung across the city.

A multinational, multi-sport event, the Islamic Solidarity Games is slated for May 12-22 in Baku.
