Serbian fest to receive Iran’s short

The MikroFAF-International festival of DIY and independent short film in Serbia has scheduled to screen Iranian short film ‘Malakout’.

The 11th edition of the Serbian film event, which will be held online over the pandemic, is set to host Farnoush Abedi’s short animation.

‘Malakout’ is about a pianist who makes a deal with the angle of death when he comes to claim his wife’s life. The musician asks the angle to take his hands instead of her life”.

The published tagline for ‘Malakout’ reads, “Music was his passion… Love was his masterpiece…”.

The short has already participated in a number of film events, such as the Guadalajara International Film Festival in Mexico, the Brooklyn Int’l Film Festival in the US, the Capital City Film Festival in the US and the Galactic Imaginarium Film Festival in Spain.

It has won awards, including the Special Mention Short award at the Silk Road International Film Festival in Ireland and the Best Animation award at the Black Country Horror Shorts Film Festival in the UK.

According to the official website of the fest, the MikroFAF is a “non-governmental and non-profit association, founded to combat prejudice and discrimination through film, to promote and produce film art and to raise awareness of the importance of art for development of a healthier society”.

This year’s edition of the event is slated for November 13-15.
