Qom, city in the heart of desert: Photos

Qom is a desert city in central Iran and is one of the top destinations for religious tourism in the world.

The national day of Qom City was observed on the 23th day of the Islamic lunar month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, which marks the anniversary of Lady Fatimah Ma’asouma’s (SA) arrival to Qom.

The day fell on Monday this year.

Lady Fatimah Ma’asouma (PBUH) is the sister of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Imam of Shia Muslims.

The city of Qom is home to the holy shrine of Lady Fatimah Ma’asouma (SA).

Among the tourist attractions of Qom Province are Jamkaran Mosque, A'zam Mosque, Jameh Mosque of Qom, as well as Qomrud Castle, Hoze Soltan Caravansary, the Grand Teemcheh, Howz-e-Soltan Lake and Qom Old Bazar.
