‘The Other’ on Munic fest screening playlist

The 2020 Munich International Festival of Film Schools (Internationale Münchner Filmwochen GmbH) is currently screening Iranian-Indian co-production ‘The Other’.

The 9-minute ‘The Other’ by Ako Zandkarimi and Saman Hosseinpour is on screen at the 39th edition of the German fest, running through November 21, 2020.

‘The Other’ follows the story of a man who is left with a daughter from his recently deceased wife. It gets all nasty when he suspects that his daughter might belong to some other man who his wife had an affair with.

The flick is the winner of the best director award from the 5th French Lyon Young Film Festival as well as the Grand Prix of the Silk Road section of the 2020 Cannes International Independent Film Festival (CIIFF) in France.

‘The Other’ was also screened at the 11th Winchester Film Festival (WFF) in the UK, the 7th international Festival of Cinema Povero in Italy, the 2020 Berlin Kurdish Film Festival in Germany and the 10th Kaohsiung Film Festival Int’l Short Film Competition (KFF) in Taiwan.

The 14th Grand OFF World Independent Short Film Awards, which is slated for November 23-28, 2020 in Poland, has recently nominated ‘The Other’ for Best Production Design award.

On December 9-13, 2020, the short film will also compete at the Brazil’s Alter do Chão film festival.

Established in 1981, the Munich International Festival of Film Schools is now one of the most important festivals for young filmmakers in the world. More than 3 500 films have been presented at the festival since its inception.

Each year, it offers young filmmakers from all over the world a platform for presenting their own short films and exchanging ideas about filmmaking. The short fiction, documentary, and animated films are screened in international competition and compete for valuable prizes, which are awarded by an independent festival jury.
