The film by Edoardo Ponti has recently released first official trailer, featuring Karimi as the supporting role for Loren.
The story is adapted from the Romain Gary novel that also inspired the 1977 film Madame Rosa, starring Simone Signoret.
“An aging Holocaust survivor forges a bond with a young immigrant from Senegal who recently robbed her,” the synopsis reads.
Besides the 84-year-old Oscar-winning actress Sophia Loren, Karimi will also appear alongside Spanish actress Abril Zamora, Italy’s Renato Carpentieri and non-professional child actor Ibrahima Gueye.
From 2004 to 2007, Karimi has been a consultant of the Venice Film Festival particularly in selecting Iranian films for the festival.
The Iranian-Italian actor and film editor was also part of the Italy Prospects Jury at the 7th Rome Film Festival in 2012.
Among the long list of movies with Karimi starring in them, ‘The Past’, 'The Salesman’ and ‘A Separation’ by Oscar-winning Asghar Farhadi, as well as ‘Secret Ballot’, ‘Fish & Cat’, ‘A Wedding’ and ‘Invasion’ stand out.
