Famed female director Narges Abyar has been selected as a Juror at the 6th Herat International Women’s Film Festival (HIWFF) in Afghanistan.
The director of many award-winning movies such as Iran's Oscar submission ‘Breath’ and ‘When the Moon Was Full’ will serve as a jury member in the Intentional Narrative Feature Film Competition of the event.
Other members of the panel include filmmaker Bijiya Jena for India and film producer Heidi Basch-Harod from the US.
Three Iranian movies such as ‘Just 6.5’ by Saeed Routaee and ‘Axing’ by Behrouz Shoeibi will vie in the section judged by Abyar and the two other jurors.
Known as one of the most prestigious women’s film festivals in the region, the HIWFF is an annual event held in Afghanistan with the aim to highlight the power of women in different life situations.
The event, to be held in November, is an iconic and one of the most prestigious women’s film festivals in the region. It was established by the Roya Film House and Armanshahr Foundation/OPEN ASIA in 2013.
