Francigena festival awards ‘Elephantbird’

Iranian-Afghan short flick ‘Elephantbird’ has been awarded at the Francigena Film Festival in Italy.

‘Elephantbird’, directed by Amir-Masoud Soheili, was named the Best Short Film at the first edition of the Italian event.

The film is about an old Afghan man who wishes to give his elephant-bird (turkey) to his grandchild, but this simple wish is hard to realize.

‘Elephantbird’ attended several international festivals, including the 23rd AVANCA - International Meeting of Cinema, TV, Video and Multimedia in Portugal, the 14th Batumi International Art-House Film Festival in Georgia, and the Sedicicorto International Film Festival in Italy.

The film was named as one of the winning short films (under 20 minutes) at the 5th R.E.D. International Film Festival of Norway.

It also received the Special Jury Prize at the 9th BINISAYA Film Festival in the Philippines.

The first edition of Francigena Film Festival took place on November 21-22, 2020.
