The Perspektiva, a Russian Disability NGO, has accepted ‘Coexist’ by Komeil Soheili for the 10th edition of the Int’l Disability filmfest, which will take place in Moscow from November 26 to 30, 2020.
During the festival more than 800 films from 55 countries will be screened.
The 12-minute ‘Coexist’ is about a blind captain living on Hormuz Island in Southern Iran. As a local man who is respectful of the ancient local culture of the island, he collects natural salt and the island’s edible red soil to make bread. He also catches fish by his unique ability to hear the sound of fish in the ocean.
‘Coexist’ has gone on screen at a number of global events, including the Terres Travel Festival-Films and Creativity in Spain, the 2020 Mente Locale Film Festival in Italy and the Seize the Film Fest in Serbia, where it grabbed the best short film award.
The International Disability Film Festival and the films are used as a means to educate people in about a wide variety of disability issues.
