Salerno fest to screen ‘The Rotation’

The 2020 edition of the Salerno International Film Festival in Italy has been scheduled to screen the Iranian short animation ‘The Rotation’.

Directed and produced by Hazhir Asadi, the 7-minute animation shows two tribes that engage in a tug-of-war to possess the sun and moon.

None of the sides can defeat the other and their conflict wreaks havoc on the Earth’s climate.

An eventual ceasefire brings temporary stability and harmony until unexpected events renew the cycle of conflict and destruction.

It is a film about the futility of war and the folly of human efforts to dominate nature.

‘The Rotation’ has so far gone on screen at a number of global events, including the Suncine International Festival of Environmental Cinema in Spain, the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in the US, the MikroFAF International festival of DIY and independent short films in Serbia, the VGIK International Student Festival in Russia, and the Arpa International Film Festival in the US, where it won the Best Animated Film award.

Born in 1946, the Salerno festival aims to promote culture through cinema.

Feature films, short films, cartoons, and fictions are presented to compete at the festival.

The 2020 edition of the event is slated for December 7-12.
