The official poster of this section of the 14th Cinema Verite was unveiled by acclaimed Iranian documentarian and artist Morteza Shabani.
Morteza Avini was a skillful author, the narrator of the TV program Ravayat-e Fath or ‘Chronicles of Victory’, the chief editor of Sura Magazine (an artistic and literary magazine) and the head of TV department of the artistic center. Having traveled to one of the war zones of Iran for making a new series, with a group of cameramen, he was martyred in a mine blast, which was left there from the war era.
Organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Centre (DEFC), the Cinema Verite is one of the most notable festivals in Iran that has both international and national sections.
The festival showcases the best documentaries in an attempt to bridge the gap between reality and truth.
Some of the festival’s sections are National Competition, International Section (non-competitive), Martyr Avini Award, Entrepreneurship Documentaries Award, COVID-19 Section, and professional Workshops.
Over the past decade, it has emerged as one of the important events on Iran's documentary calendar.
The 14th Cinema Verite will be held online over coronavirus pandemic in December 2020.
