Barcelona awards Iran film

Iranian flick ‘African Violet’ has won an award at the Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain.

Hamid Baba-Beigi grabbed the best script award for ‘African Violet’ directed by Mona Zandi-Haqiqi.

The 93-minute film is a compassionate drama of strength and reunion about Shokouh, a woman who finds out that her ex-husband, Fereydoun, has been placed in a nursing home by their children.

She and her new husband, who used to be her ex-husband's friend, make an unconventional decision to take care of Fereydoun in their own home.

Bringing Fereydoun to their home causes some troubles which leads the family to new adventures and revelations on their bonds.

The film stars Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Saeed Aqakhani, Reza Babak, Mehdi Hosseininia, Roya Javidnia, and Neda Jebraeeli.

The current edition of the AFFBCN includes meetings, conferences and seminars. The festival will host works from more than 25 countries.

The 2020 edition of the Barcelona festival was held on October 28 - November 8.
