Iran short to vie in US

The Beloit International Film Festival in the US is slated to host Iranian short film ‘Haunt’.

The film directed by Siamak Kashef-Azar will represent Iran at the Shorts section of the 16th season of the American event.

‘Haunt’, made in 2019, is a 17-minute short film about a gambling addict named Reza. Without even knowing it, Reza loses something important during a game. When he comes back home, he looks for a way to escape.

Featuring Hamidreza Azarang and Bahar Mohammadpour, ‘Haunt’ made its debut screening at the 15th River's Edge Int’l Film Festival (reiff) in the US.

Kashef-Azar’s film was also named the winner of the Best Budget Short Film Award at the August edition of the 2020 monthly Assurdo Film Festival in Italy.

The BIFF is a ten-day tribute to the power of film and the excitement of independent film from around the world, hosting more than 100 films, and meeting scores of filmmakers from the US, Europe, Asia and Latin America.

The 2021 edition of the event is scheduled for February 19-28.
