Iranian ‘Cover’ wins in Romania

Iranian short flick ‘Cover’ has garnered the Best International Short Film Award at the 9th edition of the Short Film Breaks (SFB) festival in Romania.

Directed by Vahid Alvandi, the short film won the Golden Elephant of the Best International Short Film category.

‘Cover’ is about Ahmad who has been given a second chance. The corpse of Ahmad, a blue-collar worker, comes back to life. But, this time he does not want to lead the life he was living before.

The cast list of the flick includes Yousef Yazdani, Hadi Eftekharzadeh, Hamed Nassaj-Bokharaee, and Babak Rezapour.

‘Cover’ has grabbed an honorary diploma at the 2019 International Amity Short Film Festival in Turkey and the Special Jury Award at the 2020 TRAME Independent Short Film Festival in Italy.

It has previously gone on screen at several international film festivals, including the Bolton Film Festival in the UK, the Termeh 4th Iranian Cultural Festival in Germany, and the Third Eye Asian Film Festival in India.

The SFB sets its mission as “to create a bridge between hard to distribute films (especially independent short films) and hard to reach audiences (employees and beneficiaries from our partner companies and NGOs and people living in remote villages around the world)”.

The festival has screened more than 600 films for around 50,000 people in 9 years.

The winners were announced on December 7th-18th.
