On the occasion of the auspicious birth anniversary of Hazrat Zeinab (SA) and National Nurses Day, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei sent message to the people via a live TV broadcast on Sunday, hailing nurses' role in the fight against the coronavirus.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution congratulated the National Nurses Day which coincides with the birth anniversary of one of the most revered ladies for Shia Muslims Hazrat Zeinab (SA) and offered his sympathy to the families of those nurses who sacrificed their lives to serve people.

Comparing the nurses to angels who come to help patients and, highlighting the importance of their work during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "Nurses are the angels of mercy for the patients. This is a true metaphor and not an exaggeration at all. Nurses take care of both the body and soul of the patient. Nurses are in fact sympathize with, caress, and comfort the patient."

Hazrat Zeinab (SA), daughter of Imam Ali (AS) and Fatimah al-Zahra (SA), was the first granddaughter of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH). She is best known for her courageous and eloquent role supporting her brother Imam Hussein (AS), the second Shia Imam at the time of his martyrdom in the Battle of Karbala.
