Iran scary wins at Horror Movie Awards

Iranian thriller ‘Paradoxical’ has won three awards at the 2020 edition of the Horror Movie Awards in the US.

The thriller, directed by young Iranian actor Nima Shahrokh-Shahi, won the Gold Tier for Best Films, Short Film Screenplays, and Short Film Performances.

Produced by Ali Atshani, ‘Paradoxical’ is a suspenseful psychological drama.

It depicts a simple story from the perspectives of different people in a realistic format, with some surrealistic hints.

The cast list of the short film includes Shahrokh-Shahi, Azadeh Saadatmand, Diana Jafari, Sadaf Sameni, Reyhaneh Rahimi, and Asma Hosseini.

Shahrokh-Shahi’s other short film ‘Merbromin’ was also screened at the 2020 Horror Movie Awards.

The Horror Movie Awards is a nonprofit award showcase celebrating exciting voices in indie horror across a variety of categories.

Unlike many others, its winners are determined in a tier system from bronze to platinum.

The award winners of the 2020 edition of the event were announced in December.
