Tehran square named after late director

A square located in Tehran has been named after the director of the acclaimed TV series ‘Prophet Joseph’ and ‘The Men of Angelos’.

The square situated in the capital’s district 5 was named after much-admired filmmaker Farajollah Salahshour on Tuesday.

The decision to name the square after Salahshour was made by the conservative members of Tehran City Council a few weeks ago.

Most of the council members have been changed recently, delivering it to the reformist wing last Friday.

Born 1952 in Qazvin, Salahshour is widely known for his historic religious series ‘Prophet Joseph’.

He entered the realm of art with acting in theater before appearing in several movies, including ‘Flight at Night’, ‘Human and Arms’, ‘Thirsty Palm Grove’ and ‘The World Upside-Down’.

Salahshour has directed and appeared in the movie ‘Prophet Job’. He also wrote, produced and directed the TV series ‘Prophet Joseph’ in 2007.

The director passed away due to lung cancer at the age of 63 on February 27, 2016, in Tehran.
