Audiences like ‘Parole’, critics don’t

Critics and audiences have commented on ifilm’s movie ‘Parole’.

Most of the audiences have had positive reviews on the movie, written and directed by Hossein Mahkam.

The audiences believe that the actors have played their roles masterfully and the story is catchy.

This is while most of the critics did not approve the movie technically and professionally.

Farid Masjedi, film critic, believes the writer needs to rewrite the scenario. He says the movie is attempting to conduct two stories in parallel; however, it fails to do so since the sub-stories seem to be combined in a naïve manner.

He also criticizes the “not-natural” performances by the actors and says the movie leaves many unanswered questions in the viewer’s mind.

Mehdi Tehrani, journalist, cinema tutor and film critic, says the sub-stories of the movie are isolated from each other.

He believes the filmmaker has failed to create a comprehensive whole from the little narratives in ‘Parole’. This is while the actors, especially the actress who played the role of the mother and the actor who played the role of the officer, could not deliver their roles authentically.

‘Parole’ shows a 72-hour cut from the life of a family that has to encounter and overcome a huge problem.

It has gone on screen at some global events, including the 36th Cambridge Film Festival in the UK.

The movie cast list includes Rambod Javan, Hengameh Qaziyani, Shahrokh Foroutanian, Alireza Aqakhani, Alireza Mozaffari, Mohammad-Ali Kiani, Hossein Pakdel, Mohammad Kart, Baharan Bani-Ahmadi, and Mehdi Ghafouri.

‘Parole’, made in 2013, is scheduled to go on air at 22:00 GMT.

ifilm English TV will also repeat the movie the next day at 04:00, 10:00 and 16:00 (all GMT times).
