Iranian ‘Hole’ to vie in Poland

Iranian short flick ‘Hole’ has been selected to compete at the 24th edition of the International Film Festival ZOOM – ZBLIZENIA in Poland.

Directed by Amir Roueeni, the short film depicts an odd situation in a malfunctioning mortuary of a graveyard.

The failure in the mortuary’s function has resulted in stinking of the corpses.

Also written by Roueeni, the short’s cast list includes Amirali Roueeni, Nazanin Karimi, and Davoud Zarchi.

The director says “the title is one of the hardest short films ever made and its screenplay has won a number of international awards so far. Working with non-actors, especially children, is really difficult.”

The ZOOM – ZBLIZENIA is one of the most important independent festivals in Poland.

The festival hosts films with various topics and themes.

According to the festival’s website, “it aims to present the author’s cinema, ambitious, high artistic value, moving independent and original subject matter, as well as the promotion of independent film art”.

The 2021 edition of the event is slated for September 6-12.
