A large number of cultural events all around Iran have been commemorating the first martyrdom anniversary of General Qassem Soleimani.
The Sacred Defense Museum in the southwestern Iranian city of Khorramshahr has hosted an international poetry night, in the presence and with the contribution of poets from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.
The poets recited their poems in honor of Soleimani and his comrade Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy chief of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU).
Moreover, a photo exhibition titled ‘School of Soleimani’ will open at the Contemporary Art Gallery on Kish Island on January 2.
The exhibit, to be held by the Institute of Contemporary Visual Arts in collaboration with the Visual Arts Office, will put on display the photos online. It will also host the visitors in person on Kish Island.
Another photo exhibition titled ‘My Commander’ will also be held in memory of the general and his comrade at the Academic Center for Education Culture and Research.
The fences of the University of Tehran will also exhibit a selection of photos from the funeral ceremonies for the two martyrs until January 9.
General Soleimani, who was the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), was assassinated along with al-Muhandis and eight others during a US drone strike at Baghdad’s international airport on January 3, 2020.
