Gathering at the Museum of Luminaries at Tehran’s Milad Tower on Saturday evening, a large number of artists, cultural figures, and family members of Martyr Soleimani attended the unveiling ceremony.
Director of several ifilm series Sirous Moqaddam delivered a speech during the ceremony talking about his consultation with Soleimani for making some episodes of the fifth season of ‘The Capital’ which depict the Daesh terrorists.
“Due to the fact that the story of the series was about the Daesh terrorists, we found his guidance on the series really helpful,” the director said.
“He told me that his comrades have a hard time fighting the Daesh terrorists, and watching recordings of ‘The Capital’ in their spare time is their sole entertainment that makes them happy,” he said, adding “I had expected to visit with a strict commander who was unfamiliar with artistic issues, however, I changed my mind about him in the early moments of our meeting.”
A music video by singer and actor of some ifilm series and movies Amiryal Arjmand was screened during the ceremony.
Later, the veteran Iranian actor Dariush Arjmand delivered a speech, expressing his regret that Soleimani could not say his prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The cultural figures and artists, including Jafar Dehqan and Seyyed-Javad Hasehmi, posed for photos with the statue of Soleimani at the end of the ceremony.
General Soleimani, who was the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), was assassinated along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), as well as eight others during a US drone strike at Baghdad’s international airport on January 3, 2020.
The Museum of Luminaries is also showcasing wax statues of many Iranian cultural figures, including physician and philosopher Avicenna (980–1037 CE) as well as prominent painter Mahmoud Farshchian, created by Lankarani.
