Gohar Kheirandish contracts coronavirus

Iran’s veteran actress Gohar Kheirandish has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

“Dear Jamshid, I know I will defeat the coronavirus. If a departure is on the horizon and I know it is not, take care of our grandchildren and children,” Kheirandish wrote in a touching story on Instagram, addressing her late husband Jamshid Esmailkhani.  

Born in 1954, Kheirandish made her film debut in 1986 with 'Days of Anticipation'.

She has appeared in many diverse and memorable roles and is known as a versatile actress.

She was awarded at the Iran Cinema Celebration for her role in 'Fifth Reaction' in 2003.

Her performance in 'The Custom of Lover-Slaying' brought her Crystal Simorgh at the Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran in 2004.

In 2009, she won another Crystal Simorgh for her role in 'Invitation'.
