Miami filmfest to screen ‘Sun Children’

The 2021 edition of the Miami Film Festival in the US has been set to screen Iranian feature ‘Sun Children’.

The event unveiled its shortlist of international feature film to be screened during its upcoming edition on Wednesday.

The lineup includes six international Oscar contenders, including Maid Majidi’s ‘Sun Children’.

The movie is about child labor. It narrates the story of a 12-year-old boy and his friends, who have been asked by a neighborhood crime boss to find a treasure buried underground.

The film was one of the winners of the Collateral Awards at the 77th Venice International Film Festival in Italy -- which are independently awarded by associations of film critics, clubs and cultural associations, and cinema professionals, receiving the Lanterna Magica Award.

‘Sun Children’ brought Rouhollah Zamani, one of the teenagers who took part in the movie, the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor at the Italian event.

The film was also named the Best Film at the 38th Fajr Film Festival in Iran in February.

Iranian stars Mohammad-Javad Ezzati, Ali Nasiriyan and Tannaz Tabatabaee have taken part in the flick.

This year’s edition of the Miami Film Festival will take place both virtual and in-person on March 5-14.
