Cannes Film Festival announces new date

The organizers of the Cannes Film Festival 2021 have announced that this year’s festival will now take place on July 6-17.

The Cannes Film Festival, which was cancelled outright last year due to the pandemic, is being moved from May to July — about two months after its typical date — hoping the coronavirus recedes enough by summer.

This year, organizers are intent on having a festival. No details were announced on what shape a 2021 edition might take.

The Cannes 2021 will be sandwiched between the Tribeca Film Festival in June and Venice Film Festival in September.
