Iran’s Int’l Festival of Tribes Culture draws final curtain

Iran’s International Festival of Tribes Culture has drawn the final curtain on the 14th edition, which was held virtually due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

Hosted by the Iranian northern city of Gorgan in Golestan province, the festival, which opened on Thursday, sought to promote the vibrant nomadic cultural heritage of the country and also to transmit and promote customs and traditions of the tribes with the aim to boost cultural identity.

Some 23 music ensembles had live performances during the festival, which held the closing ceremony on Sunday January 31.

The festival also hosted different exhibitions of regional arts, handicrafts, souvenirs, and culinary traditions.

Golestan is reportedly embracing some 2,500 historical and natural sites, with UNESCO-registered Gonbad-e Kavus – a one-millennium-old brick tower – amongst its most famous.
