Iranian ‘Borderless’ to vie in the US

Iranian short flick ‘Borderless’ has been selected to compete at the 2021 edition of the Athena Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Behrad Sahebqarani, the short film narrates the story of a girl with Down syndrome who tries to manage her relationship with others.

“A teenage girl named Delaram has Down syndrome and she has a particular appearance and limited verbal expression because of the genetic disorder. Normal children and other people think of her as mentally retarded. Delaram wants to change their judgments,” a synopsis of the short film reads.

Also written by Sahebqarani, the cast list of the short includes Elnaz Mirzaee, Sareh Nourmousavi, and Atieh Qobeishavi.

The Athena Film Festival aims to empower women and establish their leadership by the means of screening films demonstrating women’s authority from underexplored angles.

This year’s edition of the festival will be held online in March, 2021.
