Houtan Shakiba, biggest absent of the Fajr Film Festival awards

The 39th Fajr Film Festival announced the nominees of various sections without talented actor Houtan Shakiba being named.

Shakiba who appeared with a completely different makeup and character in Narges Abyar’s ‘Piebald’, was one of the main hopes of receiving the Crystal Simorgh for the best actor in a leading role.

However, Shakiba, who was also present at the event with ‘Ti Ti’ directed by Ida Panahandeh, was not even among the nominees.

On the other side, his brilliant act in ‘Piebald’ was hailed by the critics and audiences as one of his most memorable roles.

“There is no one who does not like or does not want to win Simorgh and I like it too, however, this film had a mission that I hope it has been fulfilled,” he said in a press conference on the sidelines of the Fajr Film Festival.

Synopsis to the ‘Piebald’ reads, “Something happens to a woman who is living in the outskirts of a big city with her husband and child”.

The cast list of the film includes Elnaz Shakerdoust, Houtan Shakiba, Mehran Ahmadi and Gelareh Abbasi.
