Iranian theaters become fully operational between midnight and dawn during the holy fasting month of Ramadan, domestic media says.
According to a media report released on Saturday, Iran Screening Guild Council decided on details for featuring films in the country’s cinemas during the holy month of Ramadan.
A spokesman for the council was quoted by the media as saying that from midnight till dawn, films will be screened, adding that those high-grossing cinematic works will have the possibility to be re-released on the condition they are at least ten weeks past their screening dates.
A film screenings program dubbed “From Iftar Till Dawn” is organized in Iran each year starting seven years back. It has been a routine in recent years to screen films in cinemas during the holy month of Ramadan from Iftar (fast-breaking) at the time of sunset till the next day’s dawn.
The holy month of Ramadan, also known as God's feast month, started in Iran on Saturday. Many Muslims across the globe mark the occasion by obsreving the fast and help the needy during the Islamic month.
