‘Angels Do Not Die’ harvests in Brazil

The Brazil International Monthly Independent Film Festival (BIMIFF) has awarded Iranian short flick ‘Angels Do Not Die’.

Written and directed by Alireza Biglari, the short film won the awards for the best actor in a leading role and the best director at the Brazilian event.

The 9-minute ‘Angels Do Not Die’, an attempt to appreciate the sacrifices of the medical staff and the healthcare workers, tells the story of a doctor who has contracted the coronavirus while helping those infected with the disease.

He goes home, but his soul is upset and depressed by what he has seen during the time in the hospital and the ICU.

However, eventually hope is revived with the encouragement of the world.

Biglari has dedicated the film to the first Iranian nurse, Narjes Khanalizadeh, who sacrificed her life to save others during the first weeks of the coronavirus pandemic in Iran.

He has also dedicated his work to all hospital staff that helps saving human lives around the world.

The short flick was screened at the I Will Tell International Film Festival in the UK, the Early Bird International Student Film Festival in Bulgaria, where it won the award for best short film, and the Berlin Flash Film Festival in Germany, where it received an award.

‘Angels Do Not Die’ has also won the best film award at the 9th Mont. Blanc International Film Festival in France and an honorable mention at the first edition of the IFA-Indie Film Awards in India.

“The BIMIFF is an Online Competitive Film Festival gives an opportunity to filmmakers from all around the world,” the website of the gala has written.
