Carpet cleaning, a Nowruz ritual

People in Iran have special rituals to welcome Nowruz (Persian New Year). The event takes place on the first day of spring and people rejoice the revival of nature by cleaning and dusting everything.

They buy new cloths, paint their houses, plant flowers and do whatever that gives the feeling of renewal.

One of the pre-Nowruz rituals is to clean carpets. In the old days, people washed their carpets at home. It was a regular scene to see families washing and cleaning their carpets in the yards or on the roofs.

But today, with this busy modern life, people don’t follow the traditional ways and let the specialists remove dust and stains from their carpets.

In recent years, many carpet cleaning factories have been developed to do the work.
