Directed by Jose Alvarenga, ‘10 Seconds to Win’ (10 Segundos para Vencer) won the award during the closing ceremony of the Iranian event that took place at Tehran’s Enqelab Sports Complex.
The Brazilian doc is about the famous and poor Brazilian boxer world champion Eder Jofre, who tries to deal with his personal life and the obligations of a world-class athlete with the mentoring of his trainer and father Kid Jofre.
The best documentary award of the gala went to ‘The Bull of Pallonetto’ by Luigi Barletta from Italy and the best short film award was presented to ‘Ronaldo’ by Recep Bozgoz from Turkey.
In the national section, the awards for best feature film, best director, and best actor were presented to producer Ali Sartippi, director Milad Sadr-Ameli, and actor Bahram Radan, respectively, all for ‘Tsunami’.
“An Iranian taekwondo athlete is so drowned in his sport activities and competitions that problems hit his personal life like a tsunami,” a short synopsis of the Iranian flick read.
‘Tsunami’ narrates the story of an experienced athlete who wants to regain his previous status. For his to achieve what he wants, he must face a rising athlete who also is after fame and recognition. Their confrontations and also their personal lives with their wives make the whole plot of the flick.
The award for best actress went to Sorayya Qasemi for her role in ‘Douch’ directed by Amir Mashahdi-Abbas.
‘On Foot in Time’ by Azam Najafian and Ali Mohammad Qasemi received the award for best documentary.
The TV program ‘120’ produced by Adel Ferdowsipour won the people’s choice award.
The organizers also honored former head coach of Iran’s national football team Heshmat Mohajerani, radio anchor Masoud Oskouee, and actor Jamshid Hashempour with lifetime achievement awards.
The closing ceremony also paid tribute to the late Iranian actor and former football player Ali Ansarian who died of COVID-19 last month.
As the exclusive representative of the FICTS Sport Federation, the Tehran International FICTS Festival functions in line with sporting regulations of Iran, the National Olympic and Paralympics Committee and the FICTS Federation.
The closing ceremony of the event was held on March 11, 2021.
