‘Crab’ to run at Créteil Women's fest

The 2021 edition of the Créteil International Women's Film Festival in France has been scheduled to screen Iranian short animation ‘Crab’.

Directed by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi and produced by Iran’s Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, the 11-minute animation is about a reserved and isolated schoolboy who is a theater enthusiast.

Regardless of his emotional situation, he wishes to play a role in the theater group of his school.

But the only part offered to him is the role of a crab.

Slated to compete at the Atlanta Film Festival in the US, ‘Crab’ went on screen at several global events, including the Hiroshima International Animation Festival in Japan, the Countryside Animafest Cyprus film festival, the Ottawa International Animation Festival in Canada, the Adelaide Film Festival in Australia, the Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival in the US, the Animest International Animation Film Festival in Romania, the Bilbao International Festival of Documentary and Short Films in Spain, and the Shanghai International Film Festival in China, where it was nominated for the Golden Goblet Award.

As a filmmaker, Sadeq-Asadi has already made a name for her award-winning short ‘Manned & Macho’ which has been and awarded at various global film events in Russia, South Korea, Italy, Australia, the US and Ukraine.

The Créteil International Women's Film Festival is the most important meeting point for female filmmakers. New female talents are discovered and promoted, portraits of female pioneers in the film world.
