The Secretariat of the festival reported on Wednesday that 82 feature films, 40 feature-length documentaries, and 190 fiction short films and short-length documentaries were submitted to the FIFF.
According to the report, only 251 films had applied for the festival by the initial deadline and that number reached 312 after the deadline was extended until April 6.
This year, the Fajr International Film Festival will open in Tehran on May 26 and run until June 2.
The 2020 edition of the FIFF was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.
The 39th edition of the national version of the festival was held on January 31-February 10.
