Italian fest to host Iranian ‘Echo’

Iranian animation ‘Echo’ has been selected to compete at the 2021 National Film and Television Festival - City of Benevento (BCT) in Italy.

Directed by Barzan Rostami, the 7-minute animation is about understanding and perception of wildlife and environmental abuse, as well as its consequences on the human race.

The animation has been showcased at a number of global events, including the R.E.D International Film Festival in Norway, the Snake Alley Festival of Film in the US, and the International Tour Film Festival in Italy.

The film won an award for Best Short Film at the Southern Cone International Film Festival in Mexico. The 13th Smaragdni eco film festival in Croatia also honored the flick with its best animation award.

‘Echo’ also won the Best Sound Designing award at the 7th Pink City International Short Film Festival in India and the Special Jury Prize at the 18th biannual Włodzimierz Puchalski International Nature Film Festival in Poland.

According to the official website of the National Film and Television Festival, “it is the first and only event in Italy to unite, within the same event, the world of cinema and television, through film premieres, previews of television series, meetings, screenings, competitions, master classes, shows, concerts, interviews and debates open to the public and spectators”.

The short film competition of the BCT accepts the works of filmmakers who have not turned 35.

The 2021 edition of the event will be held on June 21-27.
