Iranians give out free Ramadan food

During Islam’s fasting month of Ramadan, Muslims in Iran are keen to give out free meals among the needy people.

Muslim charities and volunteers prepare thousands of hot meals every day in the holy month and distribute them among the needy people.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the month when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

During Ramadan, Muslims around the world abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to sunset.

Muslims have a meal before dawn known as suhour or sahari and break their fast with the evening meal “iftar”.

The act of fasting is aimed at reminding people of the plight of the impoverished people.

During Ramadan, people make more charitable donations and spend more time reading the Quran and praying.
